What is S30V steel?
S30V is a martensitic stainless steel designed to offer the best combination of wear resistance, corrosion resistance and toughness. CPM (Crucible Particle Metallurgy) S30V offers substantial improvement in toughness over other high hardness steels (440C and D2) and its corrosion resistance is at least as good as 440C. CPM S30V is 1.45% carbon, 14% chromium, 4% vanadium and 2% molybdenum. CPM is a process by which gas is used to atomize pre-alloyed molten steel to form a powder. This powder is then screened and isostatically compressed into 100% dense compacts. The result is a steel with uniform carbide distribution and superior dimensional strength.
